The nursery comprises of a Main Playroom, with drawing table, home corner, gluing table and painting area. Off this there is a smaller Quiet Room with the story corner and computer.
We have a very well stocked Music Area and in addition to a range of percussion instruments, we have a keyboard, a djembe and a listening centre. Music is highly valued at Temple Nursery and the children are given many opportunities to listen to a variety of music and to make their own.
With easy access to the spacious Village Hall, active play is possible in all weather. The children have a weekly gym session here and also use this large area for music, movement and drama. Set in beautiful countryside we make great use of the outdoor environment. The children regularly get out to explore the fields and woods that surround the nursery. We also have access to the village park with its swings, slide and roundabout.
Using the Midlothian minibus service, the children are also taken on frequent trips into the wider community, to places such as Vogrie Park, The Garden Centre, bookshops to buy books for the nursery, the local library, Butterfly World, The National Gallery in Edinburgh, Rosslyn Chapel and the seaside.
Temple is a well established nursery offering an excellent balance of indoor and outdoor activities. We aim to provide the highest possible quality pre-school education and this is reflected in our Care Commission Report.
